Below are a few of George Bougalis and Sons, Co.'s most recent projects that have been completed.  Check back often as we constantly have new and exciting work being performed!

In the summer of 2018, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. completed a 240 foot bridge restoration of Stewart Creek Bridge on the Clyde Trail near 95th Avenue West and Clyde Street in Duluth, Minnesota.  The project was owned by the City of Duluth, Minnesota.

Stewart Creek Bridge Restoration - City of Duluth, Minnesota
Arrowhead / Kenwood Signal and Roadway Improvements - City of Duluth, Minnesota

The Arrowhead / Kenwood Signal and Roadway Improvements project, owned by the City of Duluth, Minnesota, was finished in the spring of 2017.  It included signal improvements, mill and overlay, concrete pavement repairs, reconditioning and reconstruction of roads, and water main replacement of several streets near the campuses of UMD and the College of St. Scholastica.

Hull Rust Mine View Relocation - City of Hibbing, Minnesota

During the summer of 2018, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. relocated the Hull Rust Mine View to the Susquehanna Stockpile in northeast Hibbing, Minnesota.  The project entailed relocated existing relics including a 170 ton production truck to the new site, as well as constructing the new mine view, to include concrete box culvert lookout and overlook window structures, berms and fencing, and parking.

Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery - State of Minnesota Veterans Affairs

Throughout the entire 2017 and  2018 season, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. constructed an entirely new 26 acre Veterans Cemetery for the State of Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs near Duluth, Minnesota.  The project included site grading, bituminous street installation, concrete flatwork and curb, storm sewer installation, septic system, well drilling, erosion control and landscaping.  Also included was the erection of three new buildings: an administration building, maintenance building, and committal shelter.  Pre-placed crypts, columbarium, and the entrance monument and gates were completed as well.

Scranton Iron Yard Improvements Phase I - Scranton Iron

During the 2019 season, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. completed a large scale site preparation project for Scranton Iron, Inc.  The project included clearing and grading an 18 acre property, along with installation of utilities, aggregate, bituminous, gates, erosion control, and a scale.  To complete this project, an approximate 140,000 cubic yards of material was moved , and approximately 20,000 tons of concrete was crushed and reused on site, both completed by George Bougalis and Sons, Co.

Veterans Park and Fauley Park - City of Cloquet, Minnesota

Over 2016 and 2017, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. completed improvements to Fauley Park as well as construction of the new Veterans Park for the City of Cloquet, Minnesota.  The project included earthwork, utilities, concrete, parking lot, electrical infrastructure and lighting, landscaping, and a beautifully designed granite memorial wall which is definitely worth stopping by to experience.

4th Street Watermain Replacements - City of Duluth, Minnesota

In the summer of 2015, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. installed zinc coated ductile iron watermain from 6" to 36" for the City of Duluth, Minnesota.  The project, which included pipe bursting of 24" cast iron watermain, was performed on 4th Street.

Michigan Street Utility Reconstruction - City of Duluth, Minnesota

In 2016, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. began work on a total utility and road reconstruction on Michigan Street for the City of Duluth, Minnesota.  The project went from 3rd Avenue West to 6th Avenue West.

Multifamily and Retail Project on London Road in Duluth, Minnesota

Lift Bridge Partners hired George Bougalis and Sons, Co. to perform initial sitework and utility work for the construction of 143 units of multifamily living space and 13,000 SF of retail space.  This project included over 5,000 cubic yards of rock blasting and removal.  Our company started and completed the project in the summer of 2015.

Gas Main Installation - City of Virginia, Minnesota

George Bougalis and Sons, Co. began the installation of over 2 miles of up to 12" gas main in the summer of 2015 for the City of Virginia, Minnesota. Our company is licensed through the Midwest Energy Association to perform all gas main installation, and we are proud to state that we meet and exceed all safety requirements.

Laura MacArthur School Demolition / Outdoor Recreational Facility - Duluth Public Schools ISD 709

In summer of 2015, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. both demolished and constructed an outdoor recreational facility for the Laura MacArthur School including tennis, shot put, and discus areas.  

Jones Street and Hat Trick Ave Road Reconstruction - City of Eveleth, Minnesota

Completed ahead of schedule in the spring of 2014, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. reconstructed 15 total blocks of Hat Trick Avenue and Jones Street for the City of Eveleth.  

Carey Valley Water Main Installation - Hibbing Public Utilities

Completed in summer of 2013, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. contracted with the Hibbing Public Utilities to install a 20 inch watermain near the Hibbing/Chisholm Airport.  This was one of the first projects in the state of Minnesota that SDR-9 HD poly pipe was used as a potable water main.  Completed ahead of schedule.

Grand Rapids West Elementary School - ISD 318

During 2019 and continuing into the 2020 season, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. has been working on site preparations and utilities to build the brand new Grand Rapids West Elementary School for ISD 318.

Cherry School Additions - ISD 2142, St. Louis County Schools

During 2019 and continuing into the 2020 season, George Bougalis and Sons, Co. has been working to prep and build additions and renovations to the Cherry School for ISD 2142.  These additions and renovations include a new parking lot, athletic fields including baseball and football, and also six building additions.
